13th UK & Ireland Early Career Blood-Brain Barrier Symposium

PURPOSE

Organised by Doctor Adjanie Patabendige at Edge Hill Universty, the 2023 meeting of the UK & Ireland Early Career Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB) Society will take place on the 17th November 2023 in Edge Hill University, Ormskirk L39 4QP/

 

This meeting will provide a unique platform for early career BBB researchers to present their newest findings in both presentationand poster format. We welcome abstracts on all aspects of blood CNS barrier biology including blood brain barrier (BBB), blood–cerebrospinal barrier (B-CSF) and blood retina barrier (BRB). We have two amazing keynote speakers lined up and there are several prizes and awards for outstanding presentations from ECRs generously sponsored by Pharmidex, AFRUK and Edge Hill University.

10.30am: Welcome (Dr Adjanie Patabendige)

10.45am: Academic keynote presentation (Prof Egle Solito)

11.00am: ECR presentations

12.45pm: Lunch and posters

2.15pm: Industry keynote presentation (Dr Reinhard Gabathuler)

3.00pm: ECR presentations

4.30pm: Award presentation including David Begley Excellence Award for Young BBB Researchers (sponsored by Pharmidex)

5.00pm: Closing remarks (Dr Adjanie Patabendige and Dr David Dickens)

5.15pm: Drinks reception

Delegates will be provided with an unreserved parking permit (parking cannot be guaranteed) or a free one-day bus pass from Ormskirk bus/train station to Edge Hill University.

Abstracts in the area of blood-brain barrier (BBB), blood-cerebrospinal barrier (BCSFB) and blood-retina barrier (BRB) are welcome. Please submit your abstract directly to Brain_Barriers@edgehill.ac.uk
 


 

Abstracts must be submitted as a word document. Please follow the guidelines below. 

Abstract title: limited to 25 words.  

Abstract text: limited to 250 words, excluding references. 

Abstract structure: 

– Background and aims 

– Methods 

– Results 

– Conclusions 

 

When submitting your abstract, please use ABSTRACT_13th BBB symposium YOUR NAME in the subject line.
 

Please state your preferred presentation format (talk or poster).

Registration is free and lunch will be provided. In this regard, places will be limited so please register early and submit your abstracts as soon as possible
