8th UK & Ireland Early Career BBB Symposium

The forthcoming 8th Annual UK & Ireland Early Career Blood Brain Barrier Symposium will be held at St Hugh’s College, University of Oxford on Friday the 30th of November 2018. The meeting flyer is available as a download.


The meeting will provide a unique platform for early career blood brain barrier researchers to present their latest findings in both presentation and poster format. Our keynote speaker this year is Professor Elga de Vries from the Department of Molecular Cell Biology and Immunology at VUmc, Amsterdam.

Registration is free for PhD students and early career researchers (within 5 years of PhD graduation); registration for senior postdocs and supervisors is £50. Refreshments and a sandwich lunch are included in the registration, as well as an optional post conference drinks' reception.

Please note that abstracts for posters and oral presentations (5 &15-minute sessions) should be submitted to the following email address:


Abstracts should be no more than 250 words and follow the format of Background, Methods, Results, and Discussion. Please include 3 keywords below your abstract. Please indicate your preference for a 15-minute talk, 5-minute talk or poster presentation in your email. Deadline for abstracts is the 15th of October 2018.
