A PhD scholarship is available for a student to undertake a research project in the translational stroke research laboratory at the University of Newcastle (UoN), Australia. We invite applications from motivated domestic and international graduates to undertake a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) to investigate cutting-edge therapies for selectively increasing leptomeningeal collateral blood flow to the ischaemic brain during stroke. These projects will be carried out at the University of Newcastle as part of the Translational Stroke Research Group, under the supervision of Dr Daniel Beard and Professor Neil Spratt. Students will develop a very broad range of technical skills including preclinical stroke models, advanced microsurgical skills, and cerebral blood flow imaging. They will join a team undertaking an array of preclinical and clinical research in this field and will have access to cutting-edge laboratory equipment, exceptional mentoring opportunities, international collaborations and a rich research environment at the University of Newcastle.
